If you haven’t been reading THS for long, let me tell you about my GOLDEN year. The year I turned 28 [on the 28th! hence the “golden”] I set out on a year long mission to TRY. NEW. THINGS. [You can read about the experience here: Golden Year Goals: The End ] The experience gave me a new appreciation for stepping away from the comfortable favorites and taking a bite of the yet-to-be-experienced things in life.
I’ve tried to carry on with the desire for trying new things, and I love Fresh Fridays [hosted by Katherine at Real Food Eats] because of the encouragement to look for, notice, and celebrate NEWNESS in your life. The focus on FRESHNESS reminds me to choose something other than the regular each week. [and I encourage you to give it a try, too!]
Three things that brought FRESHNESS to my week:
1. I started reading Chris Hardwick’s The Nerdist Way. So far I’ve made it through the introduction, and I’m already I’m a fan. I’ve actually read a certain section of the introduction THREE times because it has had such a motivating reaction from me right after I read it over each time. I’m hoping this book is the perfect fit for kicking off a year of good, creative work, with good, creative people, having good, creative fun.
2. Inter-Office IMing. We finally all have Lync’d up our computers and have IM capabilities. I love not having to fill my bosses inboxes with one sentence emails. I love being able to ask a question to someone when I’m on the phone and need the answer PRONTO. I love creating sentences using only emojis.
3. I’m taking the Good Belly Probiotic Juice Drink 12-Day Challenge, in an effort to get myself “regulated” in the tummy. I was pretty excited when the Good Belly team reached out to me to see if I’d be interested in taking the challenge and writing about it. Today is day FIVE and, honestly, I’m super surprised I’ve remembered to have an 8 ounce serving every day. Perhaps I’m not having a problem with forgetting because the two flavors I’ve tried have been so damn delicious? As in, surprisingly, unexpectedly delicious. More to come on this stuff when I’m done with this challenge.
