I wrote Santa a letter. Sat down, with a pen and paper, and got all cursive with my bad self. “My Dearest Santa Clause,” I started as the lights of the Christmas tree twinkled beside me.
Of course, I’d already made my material gift requests to Santa, weeks ago, but there were a few things on my heart leading me to put together another list of requests to my favorite man with a belly like a bowl full of jelly.
First off, I was hoping maybe Santa with all his magic and pizazz could somehow manage to make Benson stop growing. I will, no doubt, love the little guy well into his adulthood, but it seems like every day I come home from work Benson seems a whole lot bigger. And this week, he’s lost two baby teeth…that I know about. One I stepped on while getting out of the shower, which proves that he is out to bite me no matter if the teeth are in his mouth or not. The other he ever so lightly SPIT AT ME while I was laying in bed preparing for slumber. Yeah, he loves me that little fuzz-bucket!
I also asked the big guy in the red suit for the brilliance of my friend Liz. This girl has promised her readers SEVENTEEN days of cookies and so far, I haven’t been disappointed. To top it all off, she is using ONE base cookie dough for the start of all the recipes. Talk about a way to my heart! That sounds like a completely simplified version of a holiday bake-a-thon if you ask me, and I can’t wait to get started trying out a few of her recipes this weekend. [I am especially excited about the Chocolate Peppermint Bark cookies! Wowza!]
Last year, Liz shared a recipe as part of my Handmade Christmas 2010 Christmas Kitchen, where some of my favorite blogging bakers gave some much needed advice on holiday baking. I must admit that these beauties were a knock-my-socks-off kind of treat. You should give Liz’s Holiday Fudgy Bon Bons a try, too! Perhaps if I left some of these for Santa…..
My last request of Mr. Clause?
Your liking of Then Heather Said on Facebook. I’ve been asking some fun questions these days, and love seeing the responses come in. Hearing about your favorite Muppet was a blast, and I’m still up in the air when it comes to if I’d rather travel to Australia for a month, or the moon for a day.
[a little elf also told me that there may be some exciting giveaways on the THS Facebook page soon. Just saying. Now may be the time to get in on the action You’ve been warned!]
