This is part of a conversation that took place at my desk at 11:01 this morning:
Kristine: You look….
Me: Like I am less likely to poke someone’s eye out with a pen, today?
Kristine: Well, it’s still early. Let’s not jump to any conclusions.
Yesterday was a rough one.
It was the kind of day where I really just wanted to shut my office door [did I mention I don't have an office door?] and hunker down to get work done.
It was the kind of day where everyone seemed to be having conversations around me, forcing me to lose any sort of concentration I may have been holding on to by a thread.
It was the kind of day which I started wishing it was happy hour by 9:37 AM.
It was the kind of day filled with emergency, priority tasks which needed to be faced right then and there, before I finished the current priority task I was already working on.
It was the kind of day which I didn’t even think about taking a lunch break until after 2:30.
It was the kind of day leaving me so mentally exhausted that upon leaving the office, I decided to through my evening to-do list out the window. [I know, right? Surprise!]
Luckily, this “rest and relaxation and not-a-care-in-the-world” new evening plan was a success, and I went to sleep last night with a smile on my face. [Thanks to getting lost in the most beautiful language of a new book I'm reading, a large iced peppermint tea from Jason, a few hugs from my friend Kirk, and some laughs and good conversation with Nicholas.]
The smiles continued into today when the coffee fairy [aka: Cynthia] unexpectedly walked into my office with a J. Watt’s latte in her hand for my sipping pleasure. What a FANTASTIC surprise!! We had a nice catch up and chat session, as always.
Now that it’s lunch time [and not at 3:00 in the afternoon. ahem.] I’m here, sipping my surprise latte and reflecting on two beautiful posts I’ve loved recently. Won’t you join me?

Awwww, I’m jealous of your coffee fairy visit! You are one lucky lady (glad to see today is better than yesterday, too!)
I haven’t read any great reflection posts recently, but my brother and sister-in-law are having the worse week of their life so far and I’m going to take care of my nephew overnight tomorrow. We were talking about arrangements etc and in the midst of everything that is going on he asked me how I was and how my job search was going and thanked me for looking after Olly tomorrow. He then talked about how lucky he was, even in the midst of this awful situation. Honestly, it was the best kick up the backside I’ve had in a while, so began the process of getting back on track, because if he can cope with what’s being thrown at him at the moment, so can I!
