It’s easier than you think.
You may think it’s “easier said than done,” but I urge you to reconsider.
It’s easier than you think.

Repeat after me: I choose happiness.

again.
I CHOOSE HAPPINESS.

You can. I know it. At one time, I didn’t think I could do it either, but I did.  So I know it is true; you can do it, too.  You can choose happiness.

Make it your mantra. Think to to yourself as your brushing your teeth. Write it on a bright pink post-it note and keep it near your work space.  Sing it to the tune of your most favorite song.  Repeat it to yourself as you are falling to sleep tonight.

If you are feeling especially motivated, schedule five minutes to sit on the floor.  Get comfortable and get ready. Meditate on the words. I choose happiness.  i CHOOSE happiness. i choose HAPPINESS.  Think about those words.  Reflect on those words. Devour those words.  They are your words, now. OWN THEM. CHOOSE THEM.  Choose the choosing.

From one of my most guilty pleasures, One Tree Hill, season 6:

Take a look at yourself in the mirror. Who do you see looking back? Is it the person you want to be?  Or is there someone else you were meant to be, the person you should have been, but fell short of?  Is someone telling you you can’t or won’t – because you can. Believe that love is out there.  Believe that dreams come true every day.  Because they do. Sometimes happiness doesn’t come from money or fame or power.  Sometimes happiness comes from good friends and family and the quiet nobility of leading a good life.  So take a look in the mirror and remind yourself to be happy because you deserve to be. Believe that.

You deserve to choose happiness. And don’t you forget it.
