I’ve been enjoying being busy: putting on parties and trainings at work,
doing some social media work for my favorite small business,
writing what needs to be written, and crossing off the “have to” items as completed.

I love love LOVE long walks around town, under the stars with a new friend.
Getting to know one another, sharing stories and asking questions.

I laughed my way through this [spoiler alert!] Glee recap.

I can’t get enough day dreaming about Texas
and all things I hope to accomplish while I’m visiting.
[including but not limited to: getting a tan, drinking wine, reading many books,
finishing several projects, and answering the 117 emails
I’ve been saving in my “to respond to” folder for the last 10 days.]

I’ve sipped margaritas with some work friends,
and plan on enjoying some more adult beverages tonight
at yet another work dinner.
[oh, by the by, the whole not drinking thing lasted 17 days….]

I’m crazy for this girl and so ridiculously excited to see
that she is now sharing her own stories.
[I think you’ll like her, too!]|

I’ve rejoiced over the pending return of Pop-Up Video!

I’ve wondered what you’ve been up to, too….
why don’t you tell me?

Throwback Thursday: Blisscation

This weekend I’m headed to Texas.

Last year at this time, I was preparing for the best vacation of my life.  A handful of days away which stirred something magical in my soul. A trip so good I called it “Blisscation.”

“My hand gently touched the window, the way a mother touches a daughters face, or a husband holds his wife’s hand for the first time since I do.  With a gentleness, and tenderness, and love unlike any other.  With tears, slowly rolling down my cheeks, one by one as I continued to scan the landscape we were only moments from touching down to, I found myself feeling something I hadn’t felt in many, many years.  An equation of freedom, and renewal, and revelation.  Add flirtation, and anticipation, and relief.  Multiply by feeling known, and exposed, but in the best way possible.

I was alive.”

“There are people in your life that know you, because they know themselves.  People that you’ve faced the world with.  People that you could count on years ago, when walking down the hall to class together, who you can count on now, while rambling into a telephone from hundreds of miles away about what you thought, and what you did, and what you are going to do now.”

“Funny, isn’t it?  Had we have gotten married, no one should have celebrated.  We would have been doing the wrong thing; something that wasn’t the best for either of us.  Funny, isn’t it, that we should have celebrated that we didn’t get married, that we didn’t do the wrong thing.”

“For the next week or so, I just kind of went through the motions.  There were several days I came home from work and went straight to bed; do not pass go, do not collect dinner, just lay your bum down in the bed and slumber.  Forget about where you are, where you were, and where you could be – just do what you have to do to get through. It’s what I like to call vacation-sick, cousin to the ever popular home-sick.”
