[In case you missed it: My Winter 2011 Obsessions]
EAT IT:
Ken’s Chef’s Reserve Creamy Balsamic with Honey salad dressing.
Creamy and sweet, but not over done, I picked up this bottle from the local market on a whim and am so happy I did. It’s not too caloric, especially because you only need a tiny drizzle to add a bit of punch to your salad. I’ve also used this tossed into a pasta dish; simply delightful!
WATCH IT:
For the last several weeks, I’ve fallen into the deep of watching classic films on TCM in exchange for reruns of the television programs I usually tune to each week. A few of the favorites I’ve watched recently: State Fair, Ball of Fire, Easter Parade, and The Wizard of Oz. I love watching TCM because there are no interruptions during the movies; they run commercials before each film, give an introduction, and let the movie play completely.
Clearly, I have a thing for old time musicals these days. When I mentioned to my friend Jenn that I wanted to watch My Fair Lady soon, she loaned me her VHS set. I watched in the back room of J.Watt’s Barista House (Jason has set up a VHS and DVD player with a large collection of movies to watch). It was the perfect way to spend a rainy Saturday!
READ IT:
All things Jane Austen.
I recently read Pride & Prejudice for the first time in my life. It was flawless. I also read Fowler’s The Jane Austen Book Club which I enjoyed immensely, even though I haven’t yet read any other Austen novels. (The delivery style of Fowler’s story telling made this book one of my favorite reads of 2011, thus far.)
I recently received The Complete Novels of Jane Austen and can’t wait to dive right into the others. After I complete her six novels, I plan to have a viewing weekend in which I watch movie versions of all the stories. [Because I’m dorky like that.]
I’m also currently reading A Jane Austen Education by William Deresiewicz as part of the Blogher book club. All this to say, if you start to hear me say things like “a fortnight”, please excuse me and assume I’m searching for my own Mr. Darcy. [He will look like Rob Lowe, in case you were wondering.]
LEARN IT:
Presidential Fun Facts.
I am blessed with friends and family who shower me with gifts which lend to my obsession adoration of Presidential Fun Facts. In the last several weeks I’ve received several additions to my collection of books, flashcards, trivia sets, and other POTUS fun.
You would think that when faced with an Trivial Pursuit question about a President, which the game designers have marked as “easy”, I wouldn’t have a problem answering correctly. However, this thought would be wrong. As was my answer to the question “What was President Wilson’s first name?”
Apparently I have some studying to do

I still am cracking up about that! Now you know

Have you read Me and Dr. Darcy? Or seen the mini-series Lost in Austen? They’re both about a modern day girl who transports beck to Darcy’s era. You might like them, but they are a little cheesy. But who can’t stand a little cheese here and there? In fact, I’m having 20 of my closest friends over tonight to watch the entire five-hour BBC Pride and Prejudice mini-series.
Five hours of Darcy = drool.
That movie was Fantastic…LOVED IT, and secretly wished that would happen to me…
I wanted to hear about a music obsession. Spring especially makes me really want to listen to certain music. I have a playlist right now that I can’t get enough of. (I am fairly positive I’ve sent it to you. It’s got April 2011 in it-”things I want to listen to right now April 2011″ or “happy cd April 2011″ It starts with Dave Matthew’s “You and Me.” If you don’t have this, let me know immediately.
Oh, and your heading would be “LISTEN TO IT:”
I have a CD from you labeled “happy cd” but it does NOT start with DMB. (trust me. i would know.
)
It does have SaraB “King of Everything” as track 2 though – I know because i listen to it about 3 additional times each time I play this cd…(which is about 4 times a week, on average.) i love the entire SaraB CD, still, as we’ve already discussed. I still love her first CD, too.
I am not a fan of bottled salad dressing, but I think I’ll try that one. Would like something else to put on salad.
Ok, seriously, why didnt we bust into these those many days in our little dorm rooms at LC? You know Steph woud have been COMPLETELY into My Fair Lady..haha Seriously, about the whole Jane Austen thing, I have been completely obsessed with watching every movie related, lately. I dont have much time for reading the books, but the movies are great. I loved Becoming Jane with Anne Hathaway…
[...] AM. I brewed some tea and brought my favorite mug into the living room. I turned on TCM as I stepped down into my craft room. This just in: my craft room is a glorified storage [...]
