I have a bit of an obsession with wreaths.  When I first started stalking craft blogs last summer, saving links and being inspired for Handmade Christmas 2010, I found myself seriously geeking out over every adorable wreath I came across.  [especially this one, and this one, and this one, and this one….okay….that’s enough.]

Back in December, I posted a tutorial on how I made fabric flowers into brooches for holiday gifts.  Not only did I make fabric flowers for fun accessories for friends, but I made dozens and dozens of the flowers to try my hand at Alisa Burke’s Recycled Rose Wreath

For fabric to make the roses, I started with a few remnants of fabric from the craft store in a variety of blues and grays.  Then I searched through my craft supplies for left over pieces of fabric, ribbon and lace in the correct color pallet.  I also cut strips out of a pair of old jeans and t-shirts that I had set aside for a time such as this; a pair of jeans with holes in the knees, t-shirts covered in paint stains – clothing items that were not in good enough shape to donate, but could def be used in a craft or two along the way. Getting my recycle on ;)

Once I made my roses-a-plenty, I followed the instructions from Alisa Burke’s tutorial.  The only change I made was covering my wreath form in strips of gray fabric to match the color theme of the roses, rather than paper.  I also used hot glue rather than tacky glue to attach the flowers.

Alisa Burke’s blog is probably my FAVORITE artist blog.  She is uber-talented and every post I read leaves me with an inkling to get my craft-on! I sometimes refer to her as my crafty-blog- muse :)
