Past Memories: MOH Lists

I’ve always been a bit of what you might call a “lister”.
Maybe, ‘one who loves lists’ is more accurate.
and the TO-DO List Book
I am the kind of girl who makes lists of my lists.
I’m not sure when all the listing began, but I do know that I can’t remember ever NOT listing.

I’ve mentioned the two Elusive Green Books a few times before.  Two books full of LISTS. Lists of things that make me smile. Lists of guys that I know who have a “Zach Morris” complex. Lists of songs that mean things to my heart. Lists of memories that involve dancing. Lists of television shows I’d like to own on DVD.

My best friend Danielle would qualify as ‘one who loves lists’ as well.  Danielle and I have been friends for many, many years – almost as long as I’ve owned the Elusive Green Books!  She even has a few lists of her own in each of the Elusive Green Books.  Our friendship has lasted through high school, college, and several cross country moves.  We’ve lived 9 hours or more away from each other since 2000, but distance has never severed my deep love for this dear friend.

Once upon a time, not too long ago, Danielle asked me to be her Maid of Honor as she pledged her life to her husband, E.  Of course, as would be expected, the wedding weekend was full of lists.  Danielle had lists, I had lists, and we had lists we shared together.  We had a master list of things we needed to do for the weekend, broken down into priority lists and lists that represented each days tasks. Lists of songs, lists of photos, lists of things we needed to pack.  Lists of people, lists of menus, lists of vendors who needed to be paid. It was a dream come true for two list makers as ourselves.

The very talented wedding photographer, Jenn Cress, even captured some of our lists – including my master “Wedding Day To Do” list, which I was holding onto for dear life all day long.  We mustn’t forget a thing, and we wouldn’t, as long we had our lists.

You may note there was a .5 before the 1 because that’s how I roll.

As Danielle’s MOH, naturally I gave my toast with the help of a list.  I shared a list she had left in one of the Elusive Green Books years before…”Danielle’s Perfect Guy List.”  I wrote out the list and my notes on pretty pink paper, to match the wedding details of course!

E may have been a little nervous when he realized I was doing a live, on-mic comparison between he and Danielle’s “dream guy.”  I love these shots Jenn Cress captured of E’s face during my MOH toast.

Of course, E’s had no reason to be nervous. He totally made the cut. He really is her perfect guy 🙂

I am SUCH a list-maker, too!!! Unfortunately though… my handwriting is not NEARLY as gorgeous as yours. Seriously, I don’t think I’ve ever told you that I love your handwriting, but I do!!! It’s soooo neat!
I myself have chicken-scratch that only my mom and I can read (she has chicken-scratch handwriting, too… I think it’s genetic? maybe? That’s what I keep telling myself. Yep, my kids are pretty much doomed. Yay computers?)

Hello, kindred spirit. I live my life by lists. I actually feel the most out-of-control when I don’t have a list in front of me. I make lists for all the prep and cooking I need to do in the week leading up to Thanksgiving, gift lists for Christmas, things I need to do for work, projects around the house, knitting projects I want to do… you get it. I love them!
