Things that happened in the month of February, 2011:
Made and mailed a few dozen Valentines…[while a few V-day packages remain un-mailed on my craft room table. ahem. and one Christmas package. double ahem.]
Conquered my fear of this guy, thanks to encouragement from Allie, the bread making master.
Got my knead on…
and made two dozen, delicious soft pretzels, following a recipe suggested by Julie.
Dealt with a lot of ice. Begged it to melt. [Note: Thus far, I have only slipped and fell on my ass, once, this winter.]
Played the word “QUIZ” on a double word score. BOOYAH!
Finally spent my $250 Williams & Sonoma gift card I won from the Arnold’s recipe contest.
Found hints of the best holiday of the year all around the city.
Watched my favorite local coffee shop go through some major transformations; this month J. Watt’s Barista House has knocked down two walls, added several pieces of furniture and equipment, and taught me that “Americano is the new latte.”
Note: writing to the tune of power tools can be quite therapeutic.
Found a new favorite tea. I can not get enough of the Tazo Zen these days.
Failed to win Trivia Pursuit on the Wii at Cynthia’s house. [But managed to answer 99% of the questions Cynthia was asked correctly. of course.]
Completed 6 books: Nguyen’s Stealing Buddha’s Dinner, Nemirovsky’s Fire in the Blood, Bryson’s The Lost Continent, Kean’s The Perfect Fit, Cannon’s True Love and Homegrown Tomatoes and Lamott’s Bird by Bird.
Knit many rows. Learned how to purl, too.
Received a gorgeous gift, in Badger red.
Blogged next to two of my very best blends friends.
Shared a lot of Presidential Fun Facts…
and traveled with my Presidential place mat.
Watched a Valentines Day/anniversary surprise.
Visited The Whistling Kettle, delighting in the best lobster bisque I’ve ever had.
Finalized my decision to sell my engagement ring with a Savvy photo shoot.
Prepared gorgeous, tasty chocolate bark to gift to the CDNY Eat Drink Blog crew at our New World ladies night out.
Got my bowl on.
Several days of cardio shoveling.
4 hours of strength training.
7 1/4 hours of yoga.
672 hours of the good life.
What about you?

Heather, thank you so much for this post. I’ve been thinking about writing my post updating my 2011 goal progress and dreading it because I didn’t make much progress. But this post reminds me that there’s a reason for that: I’ve been doing a lot of other things! Thanks for another entertaining and inspiring post; I feel like less of a failure now

So much great stuff in this post!
That shoveling scene looks strikingly similar to my winter wonderland! Pancakes help. And I think I need those pretzels.
Way to go on the knitting! I’ve been neglecting my knitting projects recently in favor of books and I miss them! If only I could multi-task.
Here’s to a wonderful March!
