You may have missed that yesterday was Presidents Day.

I didn’t miss it. In fact, I celebrated with cake for breakfast.
You may be saying to yourself, “what happened to one healthy decision at a time, Heather?”
Well, I will tell you what happened: IT WAS PRESIDENTS DAY. And when it comes to celebrating the Presidents, this blogger doesn’t mess around.

I had found a recipe for FDR’s favorite birthday cake in Capitol Hill Cooks, a cook book that may or may not have been written for the likes of, well, me.  The recipe is also found on Coffee Snobology. [Though I used 1/2 margarine and 1/2 applesauce, and only used 1 tsp vinegar]

This cake was a major success, worth making a new deal over, really.  It was moist, with a light sweetness that was so perfect it didn’t need any frosting.  So tasty I would have elected it four times.    104_8975

There was a lot of Presidential Fun around the web to celebrate my favorite holiday.  Did you mess them?  Here are a few of my favorites:

One More Thing You May Have Missed:
Just in case you aren’t a tweeter – you may have missed my constant chatter and announcements about a very cool update on THS.   I have FINALLY updated the “Posts” page of Then Heather Read. Here you will find a list of some of my favorite posts written by other bloggers.  I truly believe that each and every post I’ve linked to on this page is valuable in one way or another, and I’ve tried to organize the list in a way that it can be most helpful to you.  Take a moment to check out all the helpful tutorials, tried and true recipes, [point-n-shoot friendly] photography tips, and general favorite posts when you get a chance. It’s basically a walk through my favorites bar!

    • i used to say that my favorite POTUS changed by the day.
and people would respond with, “well who is your favorite today”

      that happened yesterday.
      at 9:00 AM.
      I said “FDR.”

      Last night, at 9:00 PM
      it was Teddy.

In 2012, I plan to read on biography on each POTUS, in order.
i am sure by the end I will have formed a much more solid opinion.
for at least, like, a day or two.
